AI Consulting & Automation for Law Firms

Fee earners lose hours every week to intake, first drafts, and chasing documents. We build AI systems for law firms that hand that work to agents, with review gates a COLP can sign off.

Why this matters

Most firms have tried a legal AI tool by now. Harvey wants enterprise budgets, the Word add-ins stop at drafting, and neither touches the workflows that actually eat the week: intake triage, conflict checks, engagement letters, source-of-funds packs. Firms need a builder who starts from how the practice already works, and most vendors start from their product.

Result focus

Fee earners spend their hours on billable work while agents handle the intake, drafting, and chasing that used to swallow evenings.

Our approach

  1. 01.Map where fee-earner time actually leaks: intake, drafting, chasing, compliance packs.
  2. 02.Design agents around your practice management system rather than replacing it.
  3. 03.Build in review gates so nothing reaches a client or a court without human sign-off.
  4. 04.Calibrate on your precedents and house style before anything goes near live matters.

What is included

  • Client intake and triage agents
  • Drafting support and bundle summarisation in your house style
  • AML and source-of-funds pack automation
  • AI receptionist and enquiry handling
  • Microsoft Copilot rollout and training for fee earners
  • AI readiness audit and implementation roadmap

What we automate

The workflows agents take off your plate

Client intake and triage

New enquiries qualified, conflict-checked, and routed to the right fee earner in minutes rather than days, with engagement letters drafted for review.

Drafting support

First drafts, bundle summaries, and precedent-matched clauses in your house style. A fee earner reviews everything before it moves.

AML and source of funds

Compliance packs assembled from client documents automatically, flagging gaps early instead of surfacing them at completion.

AI receptionist

Calls and web enquiries answered around the clock, booked into the right diary, and summarised for the morning. No missed instructions at 6pm on a Friday.

Copilot rollout and training

Most firms already pay for Microsoft 365. We configure Copilot properly, train fee earners on it, and build custom agents where Copilot stops.

Built for SRA scrutiny

  • Using AI does not move liability off the solicitor, so every workflow we build has a named human review gate before output reaches a client or court.
  • The Law Society's generative AI guidance and the SRA's risk outlook shape the design: hallucination checks, audit trails, and clear accountability for every output.
  • Client confidentiality drives deployment. We build on UK-region infrastructure with zero data retention, or fully self-hosted where privilege demands it.
  • A DPIA is usually required before deployment. We prepare it with you rather than leaving your COLP to reverse-engineer the system afterwards.

Why law firms are moving now

The SRA authorised Garfield.Law, the first AI-driven law firm, in May 2025, and Clio's UK research puts firms using AI in some form at 96%. Early movers automated intake and drafting while rivals were still debating policy, and that gap compounds every quarter.

What a first engagement looks like

The typical shape of a first project for a small or mid-sized firm. Every build is scoped to the practice, so treat this as illustrative rather than a menu.

  1. 01

Week 1: workshop with the partners and practice manager. We map intake, drafting, and compliance workflows, agree the one to automate first, and fix the price.

  2. 02

Weeks 2 to 4: build. The agent runs against your practice management system and your precedents, on UK-region infrastructure.

  3. 03

Weeks 4 to 8: calibration. Fee earners review every output while we tune, until review is a formality rather than a rewrite.

  4. 04

Handover: your firm owns the system, the documentation, and the data. Support after that is optional.

FAQ

Do we need an AI consultant, or should we just buy a legal AI tool?

Buy a tool when a tool fits: Spellbook for drafting inside Word, Clio Duo if you run Clio. Bring in a consultant when the problem crosses systems, like intake that spans phone, email, and your PMS. We tell firms plainly when a subscription solves it.

What happens if the AI gets something wrong on a live matter?

Nothing we build sends output to a client or court without a named human review gate. Agents draft, assemble, and flag; solicitors decide. That is the principle the SRA guidance points to, and it is how good firms already run junior work.

Can you work with our practice management system?

Almost certainly. We build against Clio, LEAP, Actionstep, and Proclaim, with iManage or NetDocuments on the document side. Where a system has no API we automate around it rather than asking you to migrate.

Is our client data safe?

Deployment is chosen around confidentiality, from UK-region cloud with zero retention up to self-hosted models that never leave your infrastructure. Data handling is documented for your DPIA and your COLP.

How much does this cost?

A first automation project is a fixed price agreed after the scoping workshop, typically four to low five figures depending on integrations. Running costs after handover are usually a few hundred pounds a month.
