Traditional automation follows fixed rules. If this, then that. An agent can plan, use tools, and judge its own output, which lets it take on messy knowledge work like research, drafting, and triage. That extra judgement is also why agents need review gates that rule-based automation never did.
Two to four weeks for the audit and roadmap, with a working prototype inside that window where scope allows. You can take the roadmap to any builder, including your own team. Plenty of clients ask us to build the first system, but nothing forces that.
